Mona Lisa

The Mona LisaMona Lisa is a 16th century portrait painted on oil on a poplar panel by Leonardo da Vinci. This painting is also known as La Gioconda or La Joconde.

Da Vinci allegedly began this painting in 1503 in Florence, during the Italian Renaissance, and after four years working on it, he left it unfinished.

After moving to France, in 1516, it is believed that Da Vinci resumed the work and finished it shortly before his death in 1519.

Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa is in the Louvre Museum, Paris, France.
